The average annual temperature hovers at about 0.2 \u00baC. There are also several buildings of interest: the terminus of the chairlift from Pec pod Sn\u011b\u017ekou, the 14-m-high St Laurence rotunda chapel, a trigonometric stone obelisk and the mountain hut Polsk\u00e1 bouda with its meteorological station.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How to Get to the Top of Sn\u011b\u017eka<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There are several hiking trails leading up to the top of Sn\u011b\u017eka. There is also a cable car that begins in Pec pod Sn\u011b\u017ekou and has a way station on the mountain R\u016f\u017eov\u00e1 hora. The cable car runs every day on the hour from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Daytrip Tips<\/strong><br \/>\nThe old Kov\u00e1rna Mine in Sn\u011b\u017eka has been open to the public since 2004. Tourists can tour the mine with its 250 metres of tunnels and even try their hand at mining the Medieval way. They can also see functional replicas of historical mining equipment. The Kov\u00e1rna mine is open in July and August from Thursday through Sunday. What makes it special, however, is that just 8-km from the town centre is the spot where the Elbe (Labe), one of Europe\u2019s major rivers, begins its journey.<br \/>\nThe Elbe springs to life in the peatbog of the Elbe Meadows (elevation: 1386.3 m). A stone wall near the spring bears 26 colour emblems of the cities and town that the Elbe passes through.<br \/>\nIf there is still no snow on the ridges, the Elbe Headwaters are a very popular tourist destination. Not only does the Elbe begin here, but the location also affords stunning views and is the home of the highest waterfall in the Czech Republic: the 148-m Pan\u010dava Falls (Pan\u010davsk\u00fd vodopad).<br \/>\nHere you will also see the remnants of the ice age and of the original primaeval forest of the Giant Mountains.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><div  class=\"empty-space  marg-lg-b25\"><\/div>[\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column]<div  class=\"empty-space  marg-lg-b25\"><\/div><div  class=\"empty-space  marg-lg-b25\"><\/div>[\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/3&#8243;]<div class=\"text-block \" ><div class=\"simple-text \"><h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">Elbe Valley (L\u00e1bsk\u00fd d\u016fl)<\/h3>\n<\/div><\/div>[vc_separator color=&#8221;custom&#8221; border_width=&#8221;2&#8243; el_width=&#8221;30&#8243; accent_color=&#8221;#c7b39a&#8221;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;6899&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221;]<div class=\"text-block \" ><div class=\"simple-text \"><p><strong>Waterfall Kingdom<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The deep valley is 8 km long and is part of the Giant Mountains National Park (Krkono\u0161sk\u00fd n\u00e1rodn\u00ed park). At the end of the 19th century, Count Harrach built a road through the valley to connect \u0160pindler\u016fv Ml\u00fdn and the mountain hut Labsk\u00e1 bouda. The route is called Harrach Road (Harrachovska cesta). In 1904, Count Harrach also established the first nature reserve in the Giant Mountains on the north slope of the range by a cave. Elbe Falls (vodop\u00e1d Labe), Pan\u010dava Falls (the highest in the country), Elbe Gorge (Labsk\u00e1 rokle) and the Elbe Corries (Labsk\u00e9 j\u00e1my) are the highlights. The flora here is highly diverse. There are even alpine meadows and spruce forests. Near the valley you can find the scree cave known as R\u00fcbezahl\u2018s Jewellery Box (Krakono\u0161ova klenotnice).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Trip Tips<\/strong><br \/>\nIf you are planning to hike the valley, first take Harrach Road to the mountain hut Labsk\u00e1 bouda and stop at the Elbe Headwaters. You can then return along the red trail which leads to Pan\u010dava Falls and the Han\u010d and Vrbata Cairn (Mohyla Han\u010de a Vrbaty) across Golden Ridge (Zlat\u00e9 n\u00e1vr\u0161\u00ed) and back down to \u0160pindler\u016fv Ml\u00fdn. The route is 18 kilometres long. And if you are not tied to one point of departure, you can hike all the way to Harrachov and Mumlava Falls from the mountain hut Lu\u010dn\u00ed bouda along the blue trail. This very popular route is 19 kilometres long.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><div  class=\"empty-space  marg-lg-b25\"><\/div>[\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/3&#8243;]<div class=\"text-block \" ><div class=\"simple-text \"><h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">White Elbe Valley (\u00dadol\u00ed Bil\u00e9ho Labe)<\/h3>\n<\/div><\/div>[vc_separator color=&#8221;custom&#8221; border_width=&#8221;2&#8243; el_width=&#8221;30&#8243; accent_color=&#8221;#c7b39a&#8221;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;6872&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221;]<div class=\"text-block \" ><div class=\"simple-text \"><p><strong>One of the most beautiful valleys of the Giant Mountains is White Elbe (B\u00edl\u00e9 Labe) Valley.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This river flows through rocky terrain. There are many waterfall and rapids. The wild appearance is augmented by the bare scree slopes. The valley is known for its winter avalanches as well as the rock-mud landslides that occur in summer after heavy rains.<br \/>\nWhite Elbe Valley is divided into two parts. The lower section, which leads from \u0160pindler\u016fv Ml\u00fdn to the mountain hut Bouda u B\u00edl\u00e9ho Labe, is covered in asphalt and is suitable for strollers and wheelchair users. The upper part leads all the way to the mountain hut Lu\u010dn\u00ed bouda and is quite a demanding hike. The asphalt road becomes a small path that is quite steep at times and requires climbing over rocks. It is located on the left bank of the White Elbe (B\u00edl\u00e9 Labe) just west of the \u00dapa Peatbog (\u00dapsk\u00fd ra\u0161elini\u0161t\u011b), the headwaters of the B\u00edl\u00e9 Labe and \u00dapa Rivers, at an elevation of 1410 m, 1.2 km northeast from the top of Lu\u010dn\u00ed Mountain and 1 km northwest from the top of Studni\u010dn\u00ed Mountain.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><div  class=\"empty-space  marg-lg-b25\"><\/div>[\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/3&#8243;]<div class=\"text-block \" ><div class=\"simple-text \"><h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">\u00dapa Peatbog (\u00dapsk\u00e9 Ra\u0161elini\u0161t\u011b)<\/h3>\n<\/div><\/div>[vc_separator color=&#8221;custom&#8221; border_width=&#8221;2&#8243; el_width=&#8221;30&#8243; accent_color=&#8221;#c7b39a&#8221;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;6878&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221;]<div class=\"text-block \" ><div class=\"simple-text \"><p><strong>Ice-age Trail<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Covering 72.8 ha, the \u00dapa Peatbog is largest high-elevation peatbog in the Giant Mountains. It is 5 \u2013 6 thousand years old. Dwarf pine, Sudeten lousewort, cloudberries, and bog-rosemary are some of the unique plants that grow here. The bluethroat and the azure hawker are examples of some of the unique fauna. The blue trail \u2013 which leads from the mountain hut Lu\u010dn\u00ed bouda to the former mountain hut Ob\u0159\u00ed bouda pod Sn\u011b\u017ekou \u2013 passes through the bog. Golden Ridge is no longer accessible to hikers, and so the beautiful views from it are just a beautiful memory.
